We are seeking a dedicated and principled Deputy Sheriff to join our law enforcement agency, committed to maintaining public safety and upholding the law across Blaine County. As a Deputy Sheriff, you will play a critical role in enforcing laws, preventing crime, and providing assistance in emergency situations, all while fostering strong community relations and public trust.
Patrol designated areas to prevent and detect criminal activity, ensuring the safety and security of the community
Respond to emergency calls and incidents, providing assistance and support in crisis situations
Conduct thorough investigations of accidents, crimes, and other incidents, gathering evidence and preparing detailed reports
Enforce traffic laws, issue citations, and provide education to the public on safe driving practices
Work collaboratively with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, community organizations, and citizens to enhance public safety
Participate in ongoing training programs to maintain and improve law enforcement skills and knowledge
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in law enforcement preferred
Valid driver’s license and completion of a law enforcement academy training program
Strong physical fitness and ability to pass required physical and psychological evaluations
Ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred:
Previous experience in law enforcement or military service
Knowledge of state and local laws, regulations, and law enforcement procedures
Proficient in the use of law enforcement technologies, including radios, radar systems, and computer-aided dispatch
Ability to operate and maintain emergency equipment and vehicles
Experience with data management systems for reporting and evidence tracking
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse communities
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and commitment to public service
Ability to build trust and rapport with community members
Annual salary: $71,281 per year
